Authorised exam centres

Cambridge ESOL has an extensive global network of authorised exam centres. They:

• administer the exams to Cambridge ESOL quality standards
• organise the recruitment and training of Speaking Examiners
• actively promote Cambridge English exams
• ensure the security of confidential materials
• comply with guidelines for use of our branding and logo
• abide by financial arrangements as outlined in the Centre Agreement
• make a financial investment in setting up and running the centre.

How to become an authorised examination centre

Becoming a centre requires a commitment to achieving and maintaining the high standards which have made our exams famous around the world. It also involves a number of pre-approval checks, and successful applicants pay a fee for being approved as a centre.

If there is no authorised exam centre near you, and you are interested in applying, we will consider your application in the light of our business strategy, existing provision and local conditions.

Before you apply, check you meet the following key requirements:

• Have you identified whether there is a need for a Cambridge ESOL examination centre in your area?
• Has your institution been in operation for a minimum of 3 years?
• Is your institution financially sound?
• Could you provide us with a 3 year business plan with sales forecasts attached?
• Could you provide a minimum of 100 candidates each year?
• Would you be prepared to visit state schools in your area to promote Cambridge English examinations and to grow candidature?
• Do you have suitable computer facilities to enable you to grow computer-based test candidature?
