University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL) offers the world’s most valuable range of English qualifications. Cambridge ESOL is part of Cambridge Assessment, a not-for-profit department of the University of Cambridge and Europe’s largest educational assessment organisation.

Our network
In addition to our permanent staff of around 400, we work closely with tens of thousands of examiners, teachers and publishers around the world.
Joining our network of centres
Our centre network reflects the wide range of different exams we offer. This diversity in organisations is crucial to making our exams accessible to candidates all over the world. We work with our centres to make sure they all meet high security and quality standards so that we can safeguard the fairness of our tests and ensure an excellent service for test takers.
Our partnerships
We work with educationalists, government officials and other professionals to support and encourage language learning. Our partners include national and regional educational authorities, our sister organisations Oxford Cambridge and RSA Examinations (OCR) and University of Cambridge International Examinations, and the British Council, the Council of Europe, the Association of Language Testers in Europe (ALTE), English Profile, SurveyLang and Cambridge Michigan Language Assessments.
Sharing our expertise with the wider world of education
As a not-for-profit organisation, we have a duty to share our expertise with the wider world of language assessment and education. We therefore put a great deal of the findings of our research through our publications. We also present and deliver papers at conferences and seminars around the world, as well as producing world-class conferences which attract experts in linguistics and language assessment from all over the world.
