ALTE announces testing courses and conferences in Italy next month

ALTE - The Association of Language Testers in Europe – has published the details of a number of courses in language assessment it is running in Italy next month. The courses will cover Language Testing in general, as well as Writing, Listening and Speaking. They will take place in Rome in the same week as ALTE's 38th meeting and conference, and a one day conference on language and migration in the Italian context.
Course details:
10-11 May 2010 – ALTE Testing Course: An Introduction to Assessing Writing: taught by Dr Gad Lim, Research and Validation Officer, University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, this two-day Introductory Course will look at the theory and practice of assessing writing. 15 May 2010 – ALTE Foundation Courses in Language Testing, Testing Speaking, and Testing Listening: a half-day Foundation Course in Language Testing. This will be followed by two options in the afternoon: the ALTE Foundation Course in Testing Speaking, and the ALTE Foundation Course in Testing Listening. Ideal for new ALTE members or affiliates, or those with little or no experience and a limited technical knowledge of assessment. In collaboration with the Centro Valutazione Certificazione Linguistica (CVCL) of the Università per Stranieri di Perugia, this one-day conference is entitled : 'Language Assessment for Integration in the Italian Context: International perspectives and the CVCL experience'. 12-14 May 2010 - ALTE 38th Meeting and Conference
The 38th bi-annual meeting is to be hosted by the French Cultural Service in Rome. The first two days of meetings will be for ALTE members and affiliates with an open conference on the 14th May. The theme of the conference day is 'Reference level Descriptions and Assessment' and featured speakers include Dr John Trim, Prof Barbara Spinelli, Dr Manuela Glaboniat, Sylvie Lepage and Dr Luna Filipovic.
