Annual Review 2009

Against a backdrop of global uncertainty, Cambridge ESOL saw: “strong growth, with more than 3 million people choosing to take our exams,” in 2009 says Chief Executive Dr Mike Milanovic in the exam board’s newly released Annual Review.

The Annual Review 2009, issued today, covers how the experts in language assessment put key systems in place last year to ensure more support and flexibility for candidates and improved efficiency for exam centres. It shows how they offered more educational opportunities by developing quality assessment through extensive research, thought leadership and innovation. Cambridge’s Dr Nick Saville, Director of Research and Validation, says: “There is a huge body of evidence behind each of our exams that proves it performs consistently at the level we say it does.”

The report also highlights how the exam board launched a programme of seminars and forums across the globe to bring together key policy makers, educators and academics to discuss a wide range of subjects including a key event in the European Parliament on multilingualism last October.
