Search for most inspiring teaching stories as new Cambridge English competition launches

English language teachers to win professional development courses in Cambridge.
Cambridge ESOL and Bell are inviting English language teachers from all over the world to submit inspiring stories for the chance to win a place on a professional development course at Bell Teacher Campus in Cambridge, taking place in August 2011.
Entrants for the 2010/11 Cambridge English competition have to submit up to 150 words on how they have overcome a challenge when teaching English to speakers of other languages. Ian Cook from the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL), who are jointly sponsoring the event, said:
“Teachers often have to overcome barriers and find new, creative ways to encourage learning and this should be commended. Gaining an English qualification often acts as a life-changing stepping stone and were looking to find those teachers that have gone the extra mile. Weve decided to offer prizes of teaching courses as on-going professional development is essential in maintaining high standards of teaching around the world.”
The six winning teachers will be presented with an all-expenses paid trip to Cambridge to take part in a two-week residential course at Bell Teacher Campus.
Will Kinsman, Director of Sales and Marketing at Bell comments: “Bell provides a platform for teachers worldwide to network, share best practice and discuss their challenges, which are often similar; this helps them to realise they are not alone. We listen, understand the issues they face as English teachers and provide them with the resources, skills and knowledge required to overcome these.”
The deadline for the competition is GMT Midnight 1 March 2011.
