French Education Ministry chooses Cambridge ESOL
4 August 2010
The French Ministry of National Education has once more awarded Cambridge ESOL an important contract to test the English language skills of students in state secondary schools. This agreement covers testing at levels B1/A2 in the first year of high school (lycée). From 2008 to 2010, nearly 70,000 students took a voluntary test prepared by Cambridge ESOL, known as the Cambridge English Certificate (CEC). The new scheme means that this number will rise in coming years and a significant proportion of French high school students will be able to obtain international certification of their language level, favouring their chances in higher education and work.
