Cambridge and OISE boost language opportunities
08 April 2010
As the English language teaching community gather in Harrogate for the annual International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (IATEFL) conference, two key players in the industry have signed a global agreement which will create more opportunities for language learners worldwide. The new agreement, which will significantly boost opportunities for international students, is between the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations and educational organisation OISE.
OISE, the UK's largest organisation of language schools, which also has schools in the USA, Canada, Australia, France, Ireland, Germany and Spain will now offer Cambridge ESOL examinations in all these countries.
Cambridge ESOL offer the world's leading range of English language exams for different purposes and the collaboration will see the two global educators working even more closely in the future with the aim of improving access to language qualifications.
Cambridge ESOL's Chief Executive Dr Mike Milanovic welcomes this agreement:
"Whether you're an accountant wanting to boost your language skills for the workplace or an international student on the path to higher education, it's essential to have an internationally recognised English language qualification. By working with OISE we’re able to offer this benefit to even more students around the world."
Till Gins at OISE comments:
"We're delighted with this agreement. Our clients are highly ambitious learners, who attend courses with us in order to reach specific goals in their lives. The opportunity to take a prestigious examination or recognised test at the end of each course, wherever in the world the school happens to be, helps us to provide even greater focus on achieving results for our students."
Each year over 3 million students take English language examinations from Cambridge ESOL to help them onto their chosen vocational or education path. More than 10,000 employers, universities and government bodies around the world recognise Cambridge ESOL qualifications as proof of English language ability.
