Polish universities take English language ability seriously, says Cambridge
21 October 2010
A recent survey from a department of Cambridge University shows a steep rise in the number of Polish higher education institutions who recognise the benefits of internationally recognised English language examinations.
The survey, carried out in August, shows that 113 Higher Education establishments in Poland now recognise English language tests from University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL). The tests are increasingly used by Polish students at university to gain an exemption from an English course or end of year exam. Test developers Cambridge ESOL, who carried out the survey, says this steep rise in recognition is good news for both universities and students in Poland. They commented:
“Polish students holding a Cambridge English certificate have a proven ability that is recognised all over the world,” says Arek Jaworski, Cambridge ESOL's Marketing Manager in Poland. He continues: “This opens up a world of opportunities for studying abroad and gives ambitious Polish individuals the competitive advantage in the world's labour market.”
The 113 universities in Poland identified in the survey join the 11,000 organisations around the world who accept tests from Cambridge ESOL. Along with entrance onto higher education courses, the tests are also used for immigration and to boost individuals' career prospects around the world.
