Video Story: Award-winning business English teacher from China visits Cambridge
21 December 2011
An English language teacher from China – who prepares students for Cambridge English Business Certificates (BEC) – is the subject of a new video.
Lu Xia was one of six English language teachers to win the Cambridge English Competition 2011 which was launched by the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (ESOL) and Bell at the end of last year. The competition invited teachers from all over the world to submit inspiring English teaching stories and the judges selected six winners.
Lu Xia’s winning project encouraged students to create a “company” in small groups with one student playing the role of “Chief Executive”. It involved oral and written tasks and a presentation where students had to showcase their “product launch”.
Lu Xia was awarded a trip to Cambridge this summer to attend a professional development course at Bell Teacher Campus, based at Homerton College, part of the University of Cambridge.
