New classroom preparation from Cambridge will get everyone speaking

28 January 2011

As schools gear up for the first session of the new Cambridge English: First for Schools exam this March, students can now improve their speaking skills for the test with a new set of classroom resources. The First for Schools Speaking Test Preparation Pack, launched this month from Cambridge ESOL, has been designed to help teachers prepare students for the Speaking test part of the exam. Written by experienced examiners, the pack includes: Teacher's Notes, worksheets, a DVD of real students taking the test and a set of candidate visuals for realistic classroom practice.

“The First for Schools preparation pack shows teachers and candidates exactly what to expect on exam day,” explains Cambridge's Sharon Harvey. “It follows the same format as the other publications in this range and includes easy to use guidance and practical exercises. This helps teachers to develop their student' speaking skills so they're really confident on test day.”

Cambridge English: First for Schools is an upper-intermediate English exam with content focussed on the interests and experience of school-aged learners. It's recognised around the world by higher education institutions, businesses and government bodies as proof of a learner's language abilities. The first session of the exam will take place in March 2011 and is the latest in Cambridge ESOL's growing portfolio of tests specifically for school-age learners. Sharon Harvey says:

“With more tests being developed for school-age learners comes the need to provide preparation materials with content that is appropriate and pitched at the right level.”

Launched this month, the First for Schools Speaking Test Preparation Pack is available for centres, preparation centres and individual teachers.
