Cambridge ESOL has grown and evolved substantially since the first exam administration of CPE in 1913.
Assessment and Operations Group
The Group produces all exams and assessments. It manages the operational functions of exam pretesting, entry and results processing, marking and exams security. The Group also provides exam materials for special consideration cases, and deals with cases of suspected malpractice or irregularity.
Business Support Group (BSG)
Business Support is responsible for marketing and financial planning across offices in Brazil, China, France, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Mexico, Spain and Vietnam and is responsible for business development in Central and Eastern Europe, East and South Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and North Africa and the UK.
Customer Services Group
Customer Services Development provides a project management function to exploit advances in technology and Customer Services Delivery administers customer support and centre management. Customer Services is responsible for the customer helpline and technical support, while Centre Management has responsibility for recruitment, induction, training, monitoring and evaluation of exam centre staff. It is also responsible for centre registration, centre inspections, and centre communications and training.
Research and Validation Group
A large and highly qualified team of specialist researchers in language assessment has three broad areas of activity: routine operational analyses, instrumental research and special research projects. It also provides information on issues around exam quality and fairness and on the research and validation work carried out on examinations and assessment.
Stakeholder Relations and Legal Affairs Group
Stakeholder Relations oversees relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and operational links through the organisation as a whole and Legal Affairs provides legal advice and service.
Asset Languages Group
The Group develops external assessment materials, teacher support materials and training materials to train and accredit teachers to run the scheme.
