PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector)

Teaching qualifications
PTLLS is a UK-only, Level 4 qualification for new or unqualified teachers preparing to teach in the lifelong learning sector in England. You can take it pre-service or at the start of your employment in the sector.
Overview
Get ready for a career in the lifelong learning sector
PTLLS is a 6-credit award which is embedded in the 120-hour CELTA course. With the CELTA with PTLLS programme, you complete some additional assessment in order to meet PTLLS requirements, giving you a good base from which to enter employment. An added benefit is that if you take CELTA you will already have completed some of the Diploma in Teaching English (ESOL) in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTE(E)LLS).
If you already have CELTA
Some centres may offer a short extension course to enable you to complete PTLLS assessment. Alternatively, you can complete PTLLS requirements at the start of the DTE(E)LLS.
Grades
Grades are issued at Pass or Fail. Assessment is largely covered by the CELTA assessment requirement. Your centre where you choose to take the course can tell you more.
