Why get a Cambridge certificate?

What different certificates are available?

كمبريج دو نوع آزمون برگزار مي كند كه يكي گواهينامه اي براي تمام عمر است و ديگري آزمونهاي سطح معلومات است كه تنها سطح فعلي زبان شما را ارزيابي مي كند. شما دراين آزمونها مردود نمي شويد. ولي براي آنها مدرك يا گواهينامه اي هم داده نمي شود.

Cambridge provides both certificated examinations, which give you a qualification for life, and level tests which simply evaluate your current language level. You cannot fail a test but it has no diploma attached to it.

The examinations exist at six levels of difficulty, from elementary to advanced, and these levels, called A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2, are exactly and fully defined by the Council of Europe in its Common European Framework of Reference for Languages which you can refer to here. You will find details of all our exams here.

You can sit exams in general English or business English.

Tests are also available for general and business English. These are called IELTS (International English Language Testing System), designed for those intending to live, work or study in an English-speaking country, and BULATS (Business Language Testing Service), a business English test used by many companies and educational institutions. چگونه مي توانم آزمون مناسب خود را تشخيص بدهم؟

How do I know which exam to take?

شما بايد ابتدا هدف خود را از دريافت مدرك زبان انگليسي تعيين كنيد.  مثلا“ آيا هدف شما ورود به دانشگاه در يك كشور انگليسي زبان است؟ آيا مقصود به دست آوردن يك شغل بهتر است؟ آيا تنها براي علاقه شخصي و احساس رضايت نيست؟ شما هر هدفي كه داشته باشيد ما آزمون مناسبي به شما عرضه خواهيم كرد. آزمونهاي مختلف را دراين صفحه جستجو و مناسب ترين آنها را انتخاب كنيد. براي تشخيص اينكه شما در حال حاضر در كداميك از سطوح 6 گانه هستيد؟ و كدام آزمون براي شما مناسب است، اقدامات زير را به عمل آوريد:

• اگر معلم يا مربي داريد؟ از او سئوال كنيد.

You must first decide your aim in getting a language qualification. Is it perhaps to go to university in an English-speaking country? Is it to get a better job? Is it just for your personal interest and satisfaction? Whatever your reason, we have a suitable exam or test for you. Look at the different exams on this page and choose the one that suits you best. To find out which of the six levels you are currently at and which exam would be the most appropriate for you, you should:

• ask your teacher or trainer if you have one
• look at typical exam questions (available here) and see if they are too easy/too difficult/more or less right
• refer to the Common European Framework shown here and decide which is your level, do a quick test, such as the Quick Placement Test produced by Oxford University Press

With tests, on the other hand, you don't have to choose because every candidate does the same paper. The test tells you what level you are!

آيا همه مي توانند در آنها شركت كنند؟

Can anyone take them?

Yes, anyone can take them. We have tests and exams for young children at primary school, for teenagers at secondary school, for university students and working people. There is no age limit, upper or lower, except for Young Learners English tests.

شما مي توانيد بدون شركت در آزمون ابتدايي در آزمون سطح پيشرفته شركت كنيد.

You can do an advanced exam without having taken an elementary one.

Where can I do an exam?

در ايران تعداد مركز براي برگزاري آزمونها وجودد ارد. شما مي توانيد تمامي جزئيات را در اينجا بيابيد. شما مي توانيد از طريق تلفن ، فاكس ، نامه، يا E-mail تماس بگيريد تا جزئيات كامل به شما داده شود.

There are centres in Iran where you can take our exams. You can find all the details here. You can phone, fax, send a letter or an e-mail and they will tell you the details.

در صورتي كه تعداد داوطلبان زياد باشد، بعضي از مراكز آزمونها را در مدارس، دانشگاهها، و شركتها برگزار
مي كنند. شما در اين مورد مي توانيد از مراكز سئوال كنيد.

Some centres organise sessions of the exams in schools, universities and companies if there are many candidates. You can ask the centre about this.

در صورتي كه تعداد داوطلبان زياد باشد، بعضي از مراكز آزمونها را در مدارس، دانشگاهها، و شركتها برگزار

BULATS can be done on your premises on a date of your choice.

چه زماني مي توانم در آزمون شركت كنم؟

When can I do an exam?

تاريخ همه آزمونها به طور قطعي تعيين شده است و اين تاريخ ها در سرتاسر دنيا يكسان است. هر سال 6 روز مختلف براي آزمونهاي KET ، PET و BEC ، پنج نوبت براي FCE و دو نوبت براي CAE و CPE تعيين مي شود.

Examinations have fixed dates. These are the same the world over. There are six possible dates a year when you can take KET, PET and BEC, five for FCE, and two for CAE and CPE.

براي BULATS و آموزندگان جوان زبان انگليسي تاريخ معيني وجود ندارد. مدارس يا شركتها مي توانند براي تاريخ  مناسب با مركز قرار بگذارند.

BULATS and Young Learners English have no fixed dates. Schools or companies arrange a convenient date with the centre.

هزينه آزمونها چقدر است؟

How much does it cost?

قيمت‌هاي ازمونها و تست‌ها متفاوت است و هزينه‌ها از مركزي به مركز ديگر فرق مي‌كند. بنابراين شما تراي آگاهي از قيمت دقيق نامنويسي بايد با نزديكترين مركز تماس بگيريد.

Every exam and test has a different price, and the cost varies from centre to centre. So you need to contact the centre nearest you to find out the exact enrolment fee.

مدارسي كه نماينده رسمي آزمونهاي مركز هستند، هزينه كمتري دريافت مي‌كنند.

Schools which are official authorised centres for our exams sometimes charge less.

در برخي مناطق مداجع آموزشي محلي براي نامنويسي يارانه پرداخت مي كنند.

In some areas enrolment fees are subsidised by local education authorities.

آزمونهاي Cambridge ESOL جنبه تجاري ندارند، بلكه صرفا“ آموزشي هستند. لذا ما حد اكثر تلاش خود را براي كاشتن از هزينه هاي مربوط به اخذ گواهينامه به عمل مي‌آوريم. ولي به هر حال امور اجرايي آزمونها، بخصوص آزمونهاي شفاهي هزينه‌هائي در بر دارد و برخي هزينه ها اجتناب ناپذيرند.

Cambridge ESOL is not a commercial enterprise, but a purely educational body. We therefore do our best to limit the costs involved in obtaining a certificate. But of course there are costs attached to the administration of the exams, especially the oral tests, and some charges are inevitable.

نتايج آزمونها به چه شكل است؟

What are the results like?

هر داوطلب كارنامه اي را دريافت مي كند كه نمره كسب شده و قبولي يا مردودي او را نشان مي دهد. بعدا داوطلباني كه قبول شده‌اند‏، يك گواهينامه دريافت مي كنند.

Every candidate gets a results slip which gives an exact grade gained and tells you if you have passed or failed. Later, successful candidates receive a fine certificate.

جزئيات نتيجه شما بطور كامل بيان مي‌شود و شما مي توانيد پي ببريد كه كدام بخش از تست را بهتر انجام داده‌ايد و در كدام مورد نياز به كار پيشتري داريد. بطور مثال، ممكن است به شما گفته شود كه آزمون شفاهي را بسيار خوب انجام داده ايد ولي در قسمت تمرينها تقريبا“ ضعيف بوده ايد.

Your result will be detailed and you will be able to see which parts of the test you did best and which areas you might need to work on. For example, it might tell you that you have done very well in the oral but were rather weaker on the reading exercises.

كليه آزمونهاي ما نتيجه اي ارائه مي كنند كه كاملا“ با چارچوب مشترك اروپايي منطبق است. يعني شما هر آزموني را كه بگذرانيد، قادر خواهيد بود بدانيد در كداميك از سطوح مختلف CEF ، از A1 تا C 2 قرار داريد. براي مثال، ‌اگر شما در FCE قبول شده باشيد خواهد دانست كه در سطح CEF ، B2 قرار داريد. توضيحات مفصل در مورد سطوح CEF در فرمهاي چاپ شده و در اين وب سايت قابل دسترسي مي باشد.

All our exams give a result which is linked closely to the Common European Framework. This means that whichever exam you pass, you will you will be able to see which CEF level you have achieved, from A1 to C2. So, for example, if you have passed FCE you know you have reached CEF level B2. Detailed explanations of these CEF levels are available in printed form and on this website.

These CEF levels are increasingly used and accepted as the standard by governments, national education systems and companies.

Does it take a lot of preparation?

اگر يك دوره آموزشي را بگذرانيد، مسلما“ تستها و آزمونها در سطوح پائين، نياز به آمادگي زياد وبخصوصي ندارد. محتواي آزمونهايي مانند انگليسي آموزندگان جوان ، KET و PET بازتابي از چيزهايي است كه در محيط آموزش زبان اتفاق مي افتد و نمونه اي است از محتوا و سبك بسياري از مطالبي كه در نشريه هاي مختلف چاپ مي شود.

Certainly the tests and exams at lower levels do not require a lot of special preparation if you follow a course of study. The content of exams like Young Learners English, KET and PET reflects closely what happens in the language teaching environment and the content and style of many published materials.

به هرحال هرچه سطح آزمون بالاتر باشد، نياز به آمادگي بيشتري خواهد داشت. حتي اگر انگليسي شما بسيار خوب باشد، شركت در آزمونهايي نظير CPE ، بدون هيچگونه تلاش و آمادگي كار عبث و دور از منطقي خواهد بود. شما ممكن است با شكل آزمونهاي انگلستان آشنا نباشيد. لذا بهتر است قبل از شركت در آزمون لااقل تستهايي را حتي در سطوح پائين تر تمرين كنيد. تحقيقات ما نشان مي دهد كه اغلب داوطلبان آزمونهاي ما به نحوي از انحاء دوره هاي آمادگي را گذارنده اند.

The higher the level, however, the more need there is to do preparation. It would be rash to try an exam like CPE without having done any preparation at all, even if your English is very good. You may not be familiar with the format of a British examination, so it would be wise at the very least to attempt some practice tests before the day of the exam, even for a lower level exam. Our research shows us that a high proportion of candidates for our exams have done some kind of course of preparation.

There is no specific syllabus, however. You don't have to read any special books, for example.

در مورد تستها برخلاف آزمونها ما تلاش براي آمادگي را توصيه نمي كنيم. منظور از گرفتن تست يك قضاوت سريع در مورد سطح معلومات فعلي شماست و پيشرفت شما را در يك دوره آموزشي نشان نمي دهد. به هر حال در اينجا نيز شما هميشه مي توانيد با تمرين تستهايي خود را با شكل كار آشنا كنيد. مطالب پشتيبان تستها و آزمونها (كتاب ، نوار و CD) در كتابفروشيهاي تخصصي معتبر موجود است. اگر نتوانيد اين كتابها و مطالب را از كتابفروشي خود بدست آوريد، لطفا“ با ناشران آنها مستقيما“ تماس بگيريد.

For tests, rather than exams, we do not advise preparation. The idea of a test is to give a snapshot of your current level, not to reflect progress in a course of study. Here again, of course, you can always try some practice tests to familiarise yourself with the format.

Practical tests and exam support materials (books, cassettes and CD-ROMs) are available from good specialist bookshops. If you have any difficulty in obtaining these from your bookshop, please contact the publishers directly.
