Answers and Discussion
Look at the discussion of the points raised by the Phase 1a tasks. What would you recommend to your students as the most efficient strategies for dealing with these tasks?
- Do candidates have to talk together?
Candidates will only be expected to do this at Entry 3.
- At Entry 3, are candidates given time to prepare some questions to ask their partner and to make notes?
No, candidates do not get preparation time in this part of the test.
- How is the interlocutor’s role in this Phase different at Entry 3?
At Entry 1 and Entry 2, the interlocutor asks all of the questions. At Entry 3, the interlocutor will only prompt candidates where necessary (e.g. if they stray from the topic or if the language produced falls below the required level).
