Answers and Discussion
Look at the discussion of the points raised by the Phase 2b tasks. What would you recommend to your students as the most efficient strategies for dealing with these tasks?
- Are the topics in Phase 2a and 2b related?
Yes, Phase 2b will be related in some way to the recordings the candidates have listened to in Phase 2a. - What is the role of the interlocutor in this phase?
The interlocutor will prompt candidates during this phase of the test if the candidate-candidate interaction breaks down or the language falls below the required level. It is expected that interlocutors will need to prompt candidates more e.g. at E1 than at E3. - Should candidates say as much as they can about the topic before passing the turn to their partner?
No, the aim of this part of the test is for candidates to interact with each other, listening and responding to what has been said, and engaging in discussion as well as giving information.
