Listening, Answering and Asking

 

Aim:

to practise listening to and asking and answering questions about a monologue

Target Audience:

students

Relevance to SfL:

Speaking and Listening Entry 2, Phases 1b and 2a

Organisation:

individual then pairs

Materials needed:

Worksheet A; Worksheet B

  1. Photocopy one copy of Worksheet B per student.
  2. Tell students they are going to listen to a short presentation and make notes of the main points on Worksheet B.
  3. Read out the script on Worksheet A. Ask students to compare their answers.
  4. Get feedback and clarify where necessary.
  5. Ask them to use the same grid on Worksheet B to make notes to prepare for their own presentation on the same theme.
  6. In pairs, students use their notes to present to their partner, make notes about their partner’s presentation, and ask questions to expand on at least two of the details.
  7. Feedback as a class.
