DOs and DON'Ts Activity

 

Aim:

to raise students’ awareness of what to do in the Skills for Life Speaking and Listening test

Target Audience:

students and teachers

Relevance to SfL:

Speaking and Listening, Levels 1 and 2

Organisation:

individually, then pairs/groups of 3, then whole class

Materials needed:

Worksheet

  1. Ask students to list three things they should do and three things they shouldn’t do in the Skills for Life Speaking and Listening Levels 1 and 2 tests.
  2. Hand out the worksheet.
  3. Ask students to read the statements and check if any of the ideas are the same as theirs.
  4. Students work in pairs or 3s and decide if the advice is good or bad, marking the statements on the worksheets with ticks or crosses.
  5. Go through the answers with the class, then ask for any further suggestions from the students’ original lists.
  6. Photocopy the list of DOs and DON’Ts and hand out to the students.
