Paragraphing a Text

Aim:

to help students develop an awareness of the importance of paragraphing

Target Audience:

students

Relevance to BEC:

Writing - whole paper

Organisation:

alone and/or pairs

Materials needed:

one copy of the text either from a past paper or one which you have prepared (answer key on OHT is useful)

  1. Give students a block of text which is not divided into paragraphs.

  2. Ask students to divide it into paragraphs to make it easier to read.

  3. If you or your students have access to a computer, you could do this exercise on the computer rather than writing it out.
