Task Description
What do candidates have to do?
- In this task, candidates match a statement with one of four short related texts.
What sort of material do candidates read?
- Product descriptions, a set of advertisements e.g. for different business courses, notices or messages, book or video reviews, or short newspaper items on related topics.
- This task covers Levels 1-3.
What skill is being assessed?
- Understanding the language of the statement and relating it to the meaning of the text, which is expressed in a different way.
Understanding the Task
To understand better how candidates need to approach this task, it may help you to do the activity yourself and analyse what you had to do to find the right answer.
This is a matching task. Candidates are given 7 sentences. Each of these is a statement which can be matched with just one of the four short texts. Candidates have to read the sentences and find which text expresses the same meaning, although in different words.
