Reading Faster - worksheet

Here are some tips for improving reading speed. Can you match up the two halves of each tip from the two columns?

1 Try to avoid looking at every...
A A pencil or a ruler moving down the page will not distract you, and if you can physically move it faster you will improve your reading speed.

B Consciously interpret what you are reading as you read, sub-vocalise the message rather than the words.

C has gone. If you skip over something, don't go back to it. This is your brain automatically trying to skim read.

K you don't know, mentally say 'forget it' every time you come to one.
