-
As a group, look at the example 0.
- Discuss what the four options have in common (are they words with a
similar meaning? do students know how to use them in sentences and questions?)
and which is the correct option (D) and why.
- Tell the students they are going to work on the vocabulary needed to
complete this Part 1 task.
- Give out the second worksheet.
- Tell students that the options for each pair of questions (1 & 2,
3 & 4, 5 & 6) have been mixed up and only the first option (A)
in each group is now correct.
- Tell students they have to find words from B – D that they think
would be grouped with option A in some way.
- Work in pairs.
- Check the answers.
- Once the sets of options are correct, ask students to discuss what
they would look for in the text to help them find the answers for each
question (remind them about collocations with prepositions, etc.). Use
a dictionary, if necessary.
- When they are ready, tell students to do the exercise individually.
- Check the answers and give feedback on why each option was correct
and why the other options were wrong.
- Make sure students keep notes on the answers and the feedback.
