ILEC Speaking – Part 2

Task Description

What happens in this part?
Each candidate has a one-minute long turn. Candidates talk about a law-related topic on their own, then ask each other a question. They have one minute to choose and prepare one out of two written topics with prompts.

How long does it last?
This part lasts 7 minutes.

What skills are being assessed?
The candidate’s ability to sustain a long turn and organise discourse and develop topics by giving information, and expressing and justifying opinions.

Understanding the task

To understand better how candidates need to approach this part of the test, it may help you to do one of the sample tasks with a partner. Take a minute to think about what you are going to say for your task, then talk on your own for a minute, making use of the prompts given for the task if you feel you need them. Ask each other a question after your long turn and time your answers.
