Part time freelance opportunities

University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations are interested in hearing from two groups of people who have skills that we may be able to utilise in producing International Legal English Certificate examinations.

The first is native speakers of English with a background in law, including having taken a degree but not practised, and a background in EFL. Such people could potentially join item writing teams and would have to be based in the UK.

The second is people working, or having worked, in a civil law environment and who have a very good grasp of the English language although they do not need to be native speakers. Such people could potentially be commissioned to vet examination material for authenticity and to ensure that no tasks disadvantage candidates from civil law jurisdictions. An EFL background would not be necessary.

People embarking on work of either type would have agreements with Cambridge ESOL on a part-time freelance basis. The amount of work can vary and is not guaranteed. It should be seen as an addition to rather than a replacement for full time work.

If you know anyone who would fit either of these profiles and who might be interested in this type of work, please ask them to contact the ILEC team, ilec@cambridgeesol.org, in the first instance.
