Paragraphing a Text

Aim:

To improve students’ awareness of the importance of paragraphing

Materials needed:

Worksheet; Sample Part 2 question; Answers
  1. Ask students to work in pairs. Give each pair the sample Part 2 question and ask them to read it carefully.

  2. Ask the students to write down one sentence suitable as an introduction and one sentence for the conclusion. Compare these with the whole group.

  3. Give each pair the Worksheet and ask them to divide the text into paragraphs to make it easier to read.

  4. Discuss the answers as a class. If appropriate choose one of the students’ introductory / concluding sentences to improve the sample answer.
