KET Listening Part 2
Task Description
What is the listening material in Part 2?
Part 2 is a longer dialogue than the Part 1 dialogues, lasting around
one minute.
What sort of language is used?
The dialogues are of neutral or informal register; for example,
a conversation in a shop or a phone call between friends. The language
functions covered include:
- making plans (for a meal, a trip, etc.)
- talking about the past (a holiday, a sports day, etc.)
- talking about preferences (food, activities, etc.)
- describing something (clothes, rooms, etc.)
How is the task structured?
Candidates have to match five questions (6-10) to eight options
(A-H). Note that because there is a completed example, there are
actually only seven options for candidates to choose from.
What do candidates have to do?
While they listen, candidates should write the correct letter in
the box next to each question. They then shade lozenges on the answer
sheet to indicate their answers in the time given at the end of
the test.
How many marks are available?
5
