KET Listening Part 3
Task Description
What is the listening material in Part 3?
Part 3 contains a slightly longer dialogue than Part 2, lasting
a little over one minute.
What sort of language is used?
The dialogue is either of neutral or informal register and it can
be face-to-face or on the telephone; for example, a telephone booking
or a conversation between friends. The language functions covered
include:
- asking for and giving information (dates, times, prices, etc.)
- making plans (for a party, concert, etc.)
- talking about a past event (a holiday, a day out, etc.)
How is the task structured?
There are five three-option multiple-choice questions (11-15) and
a worked example (0).
What do candidates have to do?
While they listen, candidates put a tick in the correct box (A,
B or C). They then shade lozenges on the answer sheet to indicate
their answers in the time given at the end of the test.
