KET Listening Part 4

Task Description

What is the listening material in Part 4?
Part 4 contains a slightly longer dialogue than Part 3, lasting about one and a half minutes.

What sort of language is used?
The dialogue is either of neutral or informal register and it can be face-to-face or on the telephone - for example, a telephone enquiry about a job or a conversation between friends. The language functions covered include:

  • asking for and giving information (directions, information about a job, details about something for sale, etc.)
  • describing something (a building, a trip, etc.)
  • talking about future plans (a holiday, etc.)

How is the task structured?
There are five questions (16-20) and an unnumbered completed example.

What do candidates have to do?
While they listen, candidates complete the five questions, by filling in one or two missing words or a number. They then transfer their answers to the answer sheet after the test has finished. Time is allowed for them to do this.

How many marks are available?
