Activities List

Alphabet Soup: Sounds

Aim:

to revise and practise the English alphabet

Target Audience:

students

Relevance to KET:

Listening Parts 4 and 5

Organisation:

groups of four to six

Materials needed:

a set of 26 small cards for each group, each with a different letter written on it (in capitals), or Scrabble letters

1. Put the cards into a large bag or envelope so you have one set for each group of 4-6 students.

2. Ask each student in turn to pick a card from the bag or envelope.

3. The student should say the letter out loud. If they pronounce it correctly, they sit down with 'their' letter. If not, elicit correct pronunciation from the group / class and give the card to the student who gives the correct pronunciation.

4. When all the letters have been picked, count up the cards for the winner.
