Materials needed:
|
1 copy per student of Handbook Sample Paper 1 Part 3 task
and adapted tapescript (see Step 1)
|
1. On the tapescript, choose one or two key words per exchange
to blank out, making sure you choose words that your students have
already come across.
2. Photocopy this adapted tapescript so you have one copy per student.
3. Hand out the task and tapescript copies.
4. Ask students to look at the task and tell you what topic is
covered.
5. Explain that at the first listening, students should concentrate
on following the tapescript, completing the gaps. Ask them to turn
over the task at this point.
6. Check students' answers and then play the tape again. This time,
they should put the tapescript face down and concentrate on the
task itself.
Note: In doing this, you have directed students towards the parts
of the tapescript containing the answers. When they listen for a
second time, they will be familiar with what is said and can concentrate
on choosing the right answers on the question paper.
