KET Reading and Writing Part 4

Task Description

In this task, candidates read a text and answer seven questions.

What texts are used?

Adapted newspaper and magazine articles of a factual nature.

What skill is being tested?

The ability to read for main ideas and to pick out detail.

What kind of questions are they?

The questions will be either 3-option multiple choice, or Right, Wrong, Doesn't Say.

Things to Consider
Look at these questions about how you approached the task and consider your answers.

  1. Did you read through the whole text before you tried to answer the questions?

  2. Did the questions come in the same order as the information in the text?

  3. Did finding the answer to each question involve finding a single word or phrase in the text?

  4. To get the right answer, did you read the relevant bit of text first, and then the question, or the other way around?
