KET Reading and Writing Part 6

Task Description

This is a word completion task where candidates have to identify and spell five words. They do this by reading dictionary-type definitions.

What's the focus of this part of the test?

This task aims to test vocabulary and spelling.

What kind of words are being tested?

The words will all come from one lexical field, e.g. jobs, things in a house, travel, time words. They can be nouns, verbs or adjectives.

What sort of task is it?

Students read a definition of a word and are given the first letter and the right number of dashes to represent the missing letters. They then have to complete the word, making sure they spell it correctly.
