An Overview of KET Speaking

You may prefer to find out about KET Speaking by means of an activity.

Paper Format

The standard format is two candidates and two examiners. One examiner acts as both interlocutor and assessor and manages the interaction either by asking questions or providing cues for candidates. The other acts as assessor and does not join in the conversation.

If there is an uneven number of candidates at the end of the session/day, a group of 3 candidates is allowed. In this case, the Speaking test lasts 13-15 minutes.

Timing

8-10 minutes

Marks

Candidates are assessed on their performance throughout the test.
