KET Speaking Part 2

KET Speaking Part 1 Tips for Teachers

  • Give students plenty of practice talking about themselves and giving personal information in present, past and future tenses.

  • Give students practice in answering direct questions about their likes/dislikes, personal and educational background, present circumstances and plans for the future.

  • Remind students to answer the question they are asked (not one they have practised answering)!

  • Teach students to extend their answers if possible and give more information.

  • Teach students not to give a one-word answer, unless it is appropriate.

  • Make sure your students don't prepare answers or speeches.

  • Train students to listen carefully to the examiner's questions (they may be different from the other candidate's).

  • Make sure students know how to ask for clarification or repetition.
