KET Speaking Part 2 Tips for Teachers

  • Train students to understand and think about the task.

  • Train students to listen and talk to each other.

  • Give students plenty of practice in information exchange activities, using non-personal material, such as information about shops, leisure facilities, places of interest etc.

  • Train them to listen to their partner's questions and answers and try to make the conversation as natural as possible.

  • Train students to answer the question they are asked.

  • Make sure your students don't read the answer straight from the card.

  • Teach students not to give a one-word answer, unless it is appropriate.

  • Make sure your students know how to ask their partner for clarification or repetition.
