PET Reading Part 3

Task Description

What do the candidates have to do?
The candidates have to read a text and decide if 10 statements are true or false.

What type of text do the candidates have to read?
The text is the longest text in the Reading test. It is a factual text and it will often come from a brochure or an advertisement.

What is the purpose of this part?
This part tests the candidates' ability to scan a text in order to find precise information.

Will there be any unfamiliar vocabulary?
There may be some words in the text that candidates are not familiar with. Understanding or guessing these words will not be vital for answering the question.

Understanding the Task

To understand better how students need to approach this task, it may help you to do the activity yourself, and analyse what you had to do to choose the right answer. Look at this Reading Part 3 from the PET Handbook. Complete the task, thinking about how you are doing it.
