whiteboard and task cards

- On the whiteboard, write the following headings and ask students
for examples of each:
- Suggest
- Show preferences
- Agree
- Disagree
- Recommend
- Give reasons
- Sum up
- Leave the phrases on the board so that students can refer to
them while doing the activity.
- Divide the class into pairs and give them one of the situations
on the worksheet. Make sure that a similar number of pairs are
doing each of the situations.
- Ask the pairs to discuss the topic and to come to a decision
only after they have talked about all five options.
- Go around the class, monitoring their performance.
- When they have finished the task, find out what they decided
upon.
