Consulting Reference Resources to Help in Lesson Preparation
Aim:
to familiarise trainees with the range of resources available for lesson planning and their uses
Target Audience:
teacher trainers/candidates
Relevance to TKT:
Module 2 Part 2
Organisation:
pairs then whole class
Materials needed:
a range of different kinds of teaching resource materials
Ask trainees to work in pairs.
Give each pair a different reference resource, e.g. a learner dictionary, teacher’s grammar reference, teacher’s book.
For homework each pair looks at their resource and decides of what use it could be to them when planning lessons, and identifies any disadvantages of the resource.
The trainees in class describe their resource to classmates and its uses and disadvantages.
Trainees try to reach agreement on which of their resources is the most useful for lesson planning.
Notes/Variations:
You may prefer to conduct discussions in the trainees’ first language.
