Sequencing Instructions

Aim:

to increase awareness of the importance of good sequencing to clarity of instructions

Target Audience:

 teacher trainers/candidates

Relevance to TKT:

Module 3 Part 1

Organisation:

groups then whole class then pairs

Materials needed:

Worksheet
  1. Cut the worksheet into strips – one instruction per sheet.

  2. Give each group a set of jumbled instructions.

  3. The groups put the instructions into the right order.

  4. Give out the answers and discuss any issues that arise.

  5. Give each pair an activity for which they must write the instructions they would give a class to set it up.

  6. Pairs compare instructions with other pairs.

Notes/Variations:

  • You may prefer to conduct discussions in the trainees’ first language.
