Flyers Reading and Writing — Tips for Teachers
- Train your students to copy correctly.
- Teach them to check they have spelt the words correctly.
- Give plenty of practice of reading instructions and examples.
- Train them to read everything carefully.
- Teach them to use the visuals as carefully as they can in Part
2.
- Teach them to use the visuals to help their understanding of
the text in other parts of the test.
- Train them to think carefully about the different options in
Parts 3, 4 and 6.
- Teach your students to check that the words they choose in Parts 4, 6 and 7 fit in with the rest of the text.
- Encourage them to write clearly. Joined-up writing can be especially hard to decipher.
- Ensure that they are used to working within the time limit for the test (40 minutes).
