Movers Reading & Writing Tips for Teachers
- Train your students to study examples before doing an activity.
- Teach them to read everything, including the questions and the
story, and to use the pictures as a way to help them understand
the text.
- Remind your students that in a multiple-choice activity there
is only one correct answer.
- Make sure students always check their spelling.
- Teach your students to check everything again when they have
finished.
- Make sure your students make their final answer clear, especially
if they change their mind about an answer.
- Encourage them to write clearly. Joined up writing can be especially hard to decipher.
- Give plenty of practice in careful reading at sentence and text level and answering questions with short answers with an emphasis on selecting key information. Remind them that they should only write as much as they need to.
- Ensure that they are used to working within the time limit for the test (30 minutes).
