BULATS the test of choice for Korean communications company

A major Korean corporation is using the business Language Testing Service (BULATS) from Cambridge ESOL, for their recruitment and assessment needs. SK telink, a global communications solution provider is using the test to assess both existing and potential employees English language ability.
Ji-hwan KIM, Business Strategy & Development Manager for SK telink cites several factors for choosing BULATS, including the test content and Cambridge ESOL’s reputation for quality, reliability and fairness.
Unlike some other English language tests, SK telink found that BULATS indicates the true English ability of candidates. Ji-hwan says: “We'd been searching for the appropriate test that provides us the accurate reflection of examinees' practical English and found BULATS. It covers all 4 language skills, reading, writing, speaking, listening and gives us various choice of each component we need to assess. We believe it's very cost effective as well as accurate and reliable test.”
BULATS is a language assessment service specifically for the use of companies and organisations which need a reliable way of assessing the language ability of groups of employees or trainees. All SK telink job applicants are now required to take BULATS as part of the recruitment process and results are a crucial part of their assessment. The company also organises English classes, with progress assessed through BULATS.
BULATS is relevant to people at work and covers areas such as companies and products, travel, management and marketing, customer service, planning, reports, phone messages, business correspondence and presentations. The tasks in the test are generally practical ones, e.g. taking a phone message, checking a letter, giving a presentation, understanding an article, writing a report.
