YLE inter-school challenge

More than 150 Indonesian students took part in an inter-school YLE challenge to mark the country’s National Education Day. An event ‘Around the World with Cambridge ESOL’  was run by Cambridge ESOL centre, Planet Edupro, at the Sekolah Global Mandiri school.

Students aged between 6 and 14 ‘travelled’ between ‘different countries’ on a treasure hunt, answering questions which called on their Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking skills in English language, to win prizes which included bicycles and study desks.

Most of the schools taking part in the event were new to Cambridge ESOL’s YLE tests, and have since expressed their interest in adopting the tests. With the success of this year’s event in generating interest and emphasising the fun in English language learning, the centre plans to run similar events for schools every two years.
