ALTE holds two meetings a year; the first two days of the meetings are for members only, with the third day open to anyone with an interest in language testing.
The first of this year’s meetings was held at two sites in France in April, Sèvres and Paris, and was hosted by the ALTE member Centre International d’Études Pédagogiques (CIEP).
The theme of the event was: The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: from plurilingualism to intercultural competences. The meeting was opened by Cambridge ESOL Chief Executive and ALTE Manager, Mike Milanovic and Director of the CIEP, Roger Pilhion.
The opening plenary session was taken by Anders Hingel, Head of Unit for the European Commission Directorate General Education and Culture Unit Analyses, Statistics, Indicators, and was on the subject of The European indicator
of language competence.
Other topics included:
- The outcome of the Council of Europe intergovernmental forum – The CEFR and the development of language policies
- The impact of the CEFR on the French school system: programmes and practice
- Intercultural competences: A framework of reference and level descriptions.
There was also a round table discussion on plurilingualism and assessment of intercultural competences.
