Flying with YLE

At an awards ceremony in Thessaloniki in Greece recently, Nikos Tsopoglou, one of many young learners, received his Cambridge YLE award from Mona Siksek, a Cambridge ESOL consultantNikos is just one of hundreds of thousands of children who take YLE every year in more than 60 countries. The success of these tests is based squarely on the massive programme of research and development that Cambridge ESOL
carries out.

Testing young learners poses challenges that differ from those involved in assessing other English language learners and every aspect of
the tests is thoroughly investigated to ensure
that they are fair, relevant, motivating and fun. For more information on YLE research, read Research Notes 22.
